Scope and Content Pitlochry Station, Perthshire This station was opened in 1863 by the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway, but was rebuilt c1890 by The Highland Railway to cope with increasing tourist traffic. This view shows the building on the Inverness-bound platform, a neat wooden structure in 'resort' style, similar to one at Nairn. Pitlochry became an inland resort as a result of the coming of the railway, and is still an important holiday destination. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
