Scope and Content Blair Athol Distillery, Pitlochry, Perthshire This distillery was founded as Pitlochrie distillery in 1798. After several changes of ownership it was rebuilt in the 1880s. It closed in 1932, and reopened in 1949 after rebuilding. It has since been substantially altered. This view shows the distillery from the north east. The buildings are mostly faced with the local schist, with sandstone dressings. The main production buildings are to the rear. The distillery has a visitor centre, and is much used for promoting the Bells blend of Scotch Whisky. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
