Scope and Content Former smithy, Stobo, Peebles-shire This is an unusually regularly designed smithy. The multi-paned windows and the central louvered ventilator are also uncommon features. This view shows the front of the building, with the typical half door of a shoeing forge. The chimney for the smith's hearth is at the rear of the building. The smithy was disused at the time of the photograph, and was subsequently converted into a dwelling house. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
