Stobo Station Station building from NE

SC 434361

Description Stobo Station Station building from NE

Date 1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 434361

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Former Stobo Station, Stobo, Peebles-shire Stobo was a wayside station on the Symington, Biggar and Broughton Railway, a subsidiary of the Caledonian Railway, which was eventually extended to Peebles. This view shows the passenger building from the railway side. The small scale of the building is indicative of the limited traffic expected from this deeply rural part of Peebles-shire. The passenger service on this line was an early victim of road competition. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
