Scope and Content Ladykirk-Norham Bridge, Ladykirk, Berwickshire This is a late example of a large masonry bridge, with four large segmental spans. It crosses the border between Scotland and England. This view shows the bridge from the north east. The triangular cutwaters, the corbelled parapet and the semicircular feature in the centre are all intended to evoke a feeling of antiquity, perhaps because of the nearness of Norham Castle. The large spans and the use of rock-faced masonry are clear indications that the bridge is not genuinely old. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
