Scope and Content Duns Station, Duns, Berwickshire The Duns branch of the North British Railway opened in 1849, and the station became a through one in 1853 with the opening of the Berwickshire Railway. The buildings of the passenger station wee probably rebuilt in the 1880s or 1890s. This view shows the west-bound platform building and the end of the goods shed. Duns was the county town of Berwickshire and an important railhead for a prosperous farming area, hence the scale of the buildings here. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
