Scope and Content Duns Station, Duns, Berwickshire The Duns branch of the North British Railway opened in 1849, and the station became a through one in 1853 with the opening of the Berwickshire Railway. The buildings of the passenger station wee probably rebuilt in the 1880s or 1890s. This view shows the main range of the passenger station. The cars are parked where the railway tracks ran, and part of the space under the platform awning has been enclosed. The other platform building and goods shed are on the right. Duns was the county town of Berwickshire and an important railhead for a prosperous farming area, hence the scale of the buildings here. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
