Scope and Content North Water Bridge, Fisherhills, Angus This bridge, one of the finest in Scotland of any period, was designed by John Adam, John Smeaton and Andrew Barrie. It has seven arches increasing in span to the centre, all segmental, with triangular cutwaters. This view shows one of two plaques flanking the south end of the carriageway of the bridge, and marking its construction. The only significant alteration to this bridge has been the addition of railings to the parapets, in the interests of pedestrian safety. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
