Scope and Content Former tannery, Forfar, Angus This is a fine and large example of an urban tannery, designed to fit into a traditional streetscape. This view shows the front block, with louvers in the top storey to allow a flow of air to dry tanned hides. By the time this photograph was taken this tannery, like most such, had ceased to operate, and it has since been demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
