Date 10/5/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 428579

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Couttie Bridge, near Coupar Angus, Perthshire This is a fine mid 18th century bridge, with segmental arches and triangular cutwaters. Typically for the period, the arches increase in span to the centre. It was widened in the 19th century by building on sections on either side. This view shows the bridge from the south. The original arches can be seen set back from the present face of the bridge. This is a very sensitive modification to a fine bridge. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
