Date 9/4/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 427597

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Kelso Station, Kelso, Roxburghshire This station was opened in 1850 by the North British Railway as part of its line from St Boswells to Kelso. The building incorporated the agent's house in a manner typical of the period. This view shows the station building from the railway side. The original building is the two-storey L-plan masonry building on the right. The wooden offices on the left are standard North British Railway design of the late 19th century. The line to Kelso was intended as part of a major through route, hence Kelso was intended as a wayside station. It closed to passengers in 1964, and to goods in 1968.
