Scope and Content Ruins of Pottie Mill, Glenfarg, Perthshire This was an unusually large corn and flour mill, which was gutted by fire in the late 19th century and not rebuilt, probably because stone grinding of flour was superseded by roller milling in large urban mills from about 1880. This view shows the 4-storey, 5-bay body of the mill, with the kiln on the right. The site of the mill suggests that it was originally water-powered, but its scale makes it likely that it was latterly steam-powered. The survival of this large ruin beside a former trunk road is remarkable. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
