Scope and Content Wilderbank Mill, Galashiels, Selkirkshire This mill was built between 1862 and 1890 for William Brown and Sons as an integrated tweed mill. This view shows the compact layout of this mill, the core of which is the four-storey and attic range on the left. The two-storey office block on the right was built in 1883. This mill was built at the time when hand-loom weaving was being superseded by power looms in factories such as this one. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
