Scope and Content Waverley Ironworks, Huddersfield Street, Galashiels, Selkirkshire The owners of this works were the leading millwrights in the Borders. The firm was founded by the Aimers family, and Mr. Mclean is said to have joined the company after the end of the Forth Bridge contract, bringing a hand crane with him. This view shows the buildings on the street, which housed offices and stores. At an earlier date the owner probably lived there.. Behind these buildings were a foundry and machine shops which could tackle a wide range of work. Products of the firm included, apart from mill work, public wash-house equipment, small steam engines and windpumps. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
