Yair Bridge View from SW
SC 426035
Description Yair Bridge View from SW
Date 7/4/1974
Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland
Catalogue Number SC 426035
Category On-line Digital Images
Scope and Content Yair Bridge, Fairnielee, Selkirkshire This bridge is rather old-fashioned for its date, though this can be accounted for by its rubble construction. This view shows the rubble masonry, and the triangular cutwaters carried up to form refuges for pedestrians. The piers of the bridge appear to have been refaced, probably to protect them against damage by floodwater. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
