East Linton, railway bridge View from N

SC 424335

Description East Linton, railway bridge View from N

Date 2/4/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 424335

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Railway bridge, East Linton, East Lothian This wrought-iron or steel bridge replaced an earlier bridge constructed by the North British Railway for its opening in 1846. This view shows the bridge from the north. It has masonry abutments and a single lattice (Town) truss supporting the deck carrying the rails. The style of this span suggests that it is a wrought-iron structure of the late 1870s or early 1880s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
