Scope and Content Bridgend or Dalkeith Flour Mills, Edinburgh Road, Dalkeith, Midlothian Bridgend Mills was a large complex of oatmeal and provender mills, altered and extended may times. This view shows a range incorporating stables and cartshed for supplying customers with meal and provender. These are on the left. The building on the right was probably a granary. The crow-stepped gables are deliberately an attempt to suggest antiquity. These mills would have served the burgh of Dalkeith and the country round with oatmeal and feed for animals before the provision of these commodities became centralised.
