Scope and Content Drying tower at Brattice Cloth/Clyde Factory, Cambuslang Road, Rutherglen, Lanarkshire This factory made cloth coated with a compound which made it impervious to gas. This brattice cloth was used underground in coal mines to channel air to the working faces. This view shows the tower in which cloth was hung to dry after being coated. This was the last factory of its kind in Scotland. Such factories can never have been common. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
