Scope and Content Brattice Cloth/ Clyde Factory, Cambuslang Road, Rutherglen, Lanarkshire This factory made cloth coated with a compound which made it impervious to gas. This brattice cloth was used underground in coal mines to channel air to the working faces. This view shows a general view of the factory. The exact function of the different parts is not known. This was the last factory of its kind in Scotland. Such factories can never have been common. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
