Scope and Content Spirit-safe, still-house, Bowmore Distillery, Islay, Argyll Bowmore is said to have been founded in 1779 and has changed hands several times up to the present day. The glass-fronted spirit-safe allows the condensed product of the stills to be tested for alcohol content, but prevents anybody from helping themselves. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
