Scope and Content Bowmore Distillery, Islay, Argyll Bowmore is said to have been founded in 1779 and has changed hands several times up to the present day. This shows the distillery complex in 1981. The pagoda-like vents of the drying-kilns are visible to the left of the gable bearing the words, 'Morrison's Bowmore Distillery'. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
