Scope and Content Drawing of cross-incised stone from Laggan, now held in the Museum of Islay Life, Port Charlotte, Islay, Argyll and Bute Laggan lies across Loch Indaal from Port Charlotte, overlooking Laggan Bay on Islay. The remains of a chapel stood on the banks of the River Laggan but over time the river has gradually eroded the ground and washed these away. Part of the burial-ground has also been washed away. The surviving portion contains a number of grave-markers, and other fragments, including this one, have been found in the eroded riverbank and removed to the Museum of Islay Life in Port Charlotte. This drawing shows the remaining fragments of an Early Christian cross-incised stone. It bears the incised outline of a triple-ringed cross with rounded armpits and a long upper arm.
