Scope and Content Detail of effigy of priest on West Highland grave-slab at Nereabolls Chapel, Islay, Argyll and Bute Nereabolls lies south of Port Charlotte on the Rhinns peninsula of Islay. The chapel has been dated to the medieval period, and may have been dedicated to St Columba. Very little now remains of the building. Within the ruins of the chapel, there are a number of funerary monuments, many of which have been moved from their original positions. Most of those which have been moved are now held in the Museum of Islay Life in Port Charlotte. This shows part of the effigy of a priest from a 14th-/15th-century grave-slab. It shows the priest's hands clasped in prayer. Other decoration includes a foliated cross, some interlace carving and three animals whose tails lead into plant-stems.
