Scope and Content Very large tanker being assembled at the Glen Shipbuilding Yard, Greenock, of Scott-Lithgow Ltd This shows half of a tanker being assembled from prefabricated sections. In the foreground the bottom of the vessel is complete, and in the background part of the sides and internal structure of the vessel are in place. Vessels of this size were made in halves at the Glen Yard, as the building slip was short. The halves were joined after launching. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
