Scope and Content Prefabricated section of tanker hull on a transporter in the Glen Shipyard of Scott Lithgow Ltd., Greenock The Glen Yard was rebuilt in the late 1960s to build very large ships from large subassemblies made under cover in workshops at the nearby Kingston Yard. This shows one of these on a transporter. The transporter was a large flat-topped vehicle, carried on many rubber-tyred wheels. It was driven from a cabin under the deck as seen here. The subassembly here is a section of the bottom of a very large tanker. Because the slip at the Glen Yard was short, very large tankers were built here in halves and joined after launching.
