Scope and Content Horizontal drilling machine at the works of Manlove Tullis, Kilbowie Ironworks, Clydebank Manlove Tullis was an amalgamation of two companies who specialised in making laundry machinery. The Clydebank works belonged to D &J Tullis, who also made machine tools, including this one Horizontal drilling and boring machines were used for making precision holes of a wide range of sizes in machine parts. This is a rare Scottish-built example of the type. Manlove Tullis had a well-equipped machine shop, capable of undertaking a wide range of medium-scale engineering.
