Scope and Content Vertical pillar drilling machine at the Blantyre Engineering Co.'s works, Blantyre, Lanarkshire The Blantyre Engineering Co were general engineers, but did much work for the mining industry. This was one of the machine tools they used in making accurately machined parts. This view shows a vertical drilling machine, a tool designed to bore holes in precision machine parts. The maker of this one is unknown, but it is a typical belt driven tool of early this century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
