Scope and Content Biggar Mill, Lanarkshire, from the north Biggar Mill was a water-powered oatmeal and animal feeding-stuffs mill, typical of many in Scotland. It was powered by water from the Biggar Burn. The mill proper is on the left of this view. It was powered by an internal wheel, now removed. Grain to be ground came in at the upper level, seen here on the right, and was dried in the kiln, with its louvered ventilator. This was originally a burgh mill to which the burghers took their grain for milling. The churches in the background mark the edge of the settlement. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
