Scope and Content 1929 plan of Laphroaig Distillery, Islay, Argyll The Laphroaig Distillery was established in the mid 19th century as part of a farm. It is a good example of the type of distillery which emerged after changes in the law in 1816 and 1823, and developed slowly to become a large production complex.
