Scope and Content Warehouse, Ardbeg Distillery, Islay, Argyll Ardbeg Distillery was founded in the late 18th century by Alexander Stewart, but is first recorded in operation in 1817-18. The distillery's name is painted on the seaward side of this warehouse. Large warehouses are required to provide space for the casks of whisky to mature for at least three years.
