Scope and Content Liberton Tower, Liberton Drive, Liberton, Edinburgh Liberton Tower, a late medieval tower-house, stands perched on a ridge to the west of Liberton. The tower, built in the 15th century by the Dalmahoy family, has a splendid uninterrupted view north over the city of Edinburgh to the Firth of Forth. The four-storeyed tower, built on a rectangular plan, has a pitched roof of stone slabs surrounded by a parapet walk. The thick rubble walls, originally harled, have small windows. Adjoining the tower are two farmhouses, dating from the 18th century. The tower, bought by the Little family in the 16th century, was sold when William Little moved to nearby Liberton House c.1600. It then began a long period of gradual decline until, in 1998, it was sympathetically restored as holiday accommodation. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
