Scope and Content View of Architectural School, Glasgow School of Art, No 167 Renfrew Street, Glasgow The architectural school of the Glasgow School of Art occupied the western corner of the ground floor of the building in Renfrew Street. This photograph of the interior, taken in 1910 by Harry Bedford Lemere, shows the original arrangement of the room. The room, well-lit by natural light from three west-facing windows and three which face north, has large worktables along its length over which hang electric lights on pulleys. The bulbs could be adjusted to hang directly over each workplace. The architectural school, now housed in a new building, was renamed the Mackintosh School of Architecture in honour of Charles Rennie Mackintosh who was an ex-student of the School and became the architect of its new premises in Renfrew Street.
