Scope and Content Sir John Fowler Memorial Clock, Argyle Street, Ullapool, Highland Ullapool was refounded in 1788 by the British Fisheries Society who allocated plots and erected a pier, warehouses and an inn. Six years later, local herring stocks vanished and the town's economy collapsed. Its economy revived in the mid 19th century. The Sir John Fowler Memorial Clock was erected in 1899.
