Scope and Content Aerial view of Portmahomack, Highland Portmahomack expanded into a fishing village after 1815 when it acquired a new harbour to replace a ruined stone pier dating from the 17th century. This aerial view shows the village and its harbour. The L-shaped east pier was constructed in 1813-5 by Thomas Telford. To its right is a much shorter pier, constructed in the 1860s as a ferry terminal. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
