Description Plan and Perspective Elevation by J D MacKenzie Dated "May 11 1870"

Catalogue Number SC 400777

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of RCD 61/1

Scope and Content 1870 plan and drawing of Lochslin Castle, Highland Lochslin Castle, once a stronghold of the Mackenzies, is said to have originated in the 14th century but was probably much altered in the next three centuries. It is now almost completely in ruins. This plan and drawing were executed by Sir J D Mackenzie in 1870. The turrets and crow-stepped gables suggest that the castle took on its final form in the 17th century [?]. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
