Scope and Content PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM NO 28: MELVILLE CASTLE ALBUM Small carte-de-viste photograph album in brown leather with portrait of a dog on porcelain c.1860 on the front cover. The porcelain is broken. Purchased at MacNaughton's bookshop c.1986 The album contains three exterior views of Melville Castle, Lasswade, a group portrait outside the castle, a ‘rustic bridge over the River Esk near the castle’, a view of the Prentice Pillar at Roslin Chapel, a couple with a donkey outside Cotterstockhall, Oundle, Northamptonshire and a view of Epworth Church, Lincolnshire by the Manchester Photographic Company Limited (after 1865). The majority of the images are carte-de-visite portraits.
