Scope and Content Aerial view of Sheriff Court and Jail, Castle Hill, Inverness, Highland Inverness Sheriff Court House was built to designs by William Burn in 1833-5. The curtain-walls, by Joseph Mitchell, date from 1839. The Jail, now the District Court, was added by Thomas Brown Junior in 1846-8. This aerial view shows the complex in the lower portion of the photograph. The nearer building is the Sheriff Court House. Further off, the building with the tall towers is the Jail.
