Scope and Content Kneeling angel font, St Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral, Inverness, Highland St Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral was built to designs by Alexander Ross in 1866-9 in Gothic style. The original plan was grander than the final building and included 30m spires for the two square west towers. This font is in the south-west baptistery. It was made by James F Redfern in 1871 and is a copy of Thorwaldsen's 'Kneeling Angel Font' in Copenhagen, except that the angel's face is that of Mrs Learmonth of Dean whose husband paid for the sculpture.
