Scope and Content Court-room, Cromarty Court-house, Cromarty, Highland Cromarty Court-house was built in the late 18th century by George Ross, owner of Cromarty estate, to accommodate the county and burgh councils. The rear cell-block was added in the 1840s. The court-room interior dates from the 1840s. It has boxes for the accused, the jury and the witnesses, as well as three rows of public benches. It shared a heating system with the prison block. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
