Scope and Content Cell inside Cromarty Court-house, Highland Cromarty Court-house accommodated the county and burgh councils. It was built by George Ross, owner of the Cromarty estate. The cell block was added in the 1840s. All three cells in the prison extension have studded, metal-plated doors. They are lit by small barred windows, and were originally equipped with slab beds. One of them still has a curved wooden corner-seat. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
