Scope and Content 1960s view of platforms, Dingwall Railway Station, Dingwall, Highlands Dingwall Railway station - general view from the footbridge. The bridge spans the tracks to provide access to the 'up' platform of Dingwall Railway Station, built for the Highland Railway by Murdoch Patterson in 1886. Dingwall, despite being the county town of Ross and Cromarty, remained small with little trade until its harbour was built in 1815-17. Connection to the rail network in 1862 fuelled further expansion. The town-centre was redeveloped in 1963. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
