Scope and Content Seaforth Place, Academy Street, Fortrose, Highland Fortrose began as a settlement belonging to the canons of Fortrose Cathedral. It became a royal burgh in 1590, but in 1691 was said to be still a 'little village'. By the later 19th century, the town was an established holiday resort. Seaforth Place on Academy Street contains houses from the 18th and 19th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
