Scope and Content Stobhall, chapel, Perth and Kinross The chapel is the earliest of several buildings of medieval or later date situated on the promontory of Stobhall. Possibly of 14th- or 15th-century date, the chapel became a ground-floor hall when it was incorporated into the tower-house in 1578. This image shows a series of decorated planks from the ceiling of the chapel's vestibule. Restored in 1840, the simple rectangular chapel has a particularly fine painted ceiling which is dated to 1642. It is decorated with figures of contemporary kings, interspersed with panels of animals, birds and floriated designs. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
