Scope and Content Old Mains of Rattray, laird's house, Perth and Kinross Located beside a farm track 550m west-north-west of Mains of Rattray steading, are the remains of a late 17th-century laird's house. Originally two storeys and an attic in height, the house is now a roofless ruin. This keyhole gun-loop has been built into the 1720 kitchen extension on the north-west side of the house. Another one can be found in an outbuilding wall. The weathered lintel over the entrance bears the name and arms of David Crichton, along with the date 1694. The house was remodelled and extended in 1720 and again in c.1800. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
