Catalogue Number SC 397945

Scope and Content Old Mains of Rattray, laird's house, Perth and Kinross Located beside a farm track 550m west-north-west of Mains of Rattray steading, are the remains of a late 17th-century laird's house. Originally two storeys and an attic in height, the house is now a roofless ruin. The floor between the ground and first floors has collapsed and this photograph shows the upper level fireplace sitting above and to the right of the main fireplace. The weathered lintel over the entrance bears the name and arms of David Crichton, along with the date 1694. The house was remodelled and extended in 1720 and again in c.1800.
