Scope and Content Rear of 7, 11 and 13 Main Street, West Wemyss, Fife West Wemyss became a burgh of barony in 1551. Initially its economy was based on salt-making though it had a harbour by 1621. In the 19th century, the town became dominated by the coal industry. This shows the rear of 7, 11 and 13 Main Street. Most of the houses date from the early 19th century.
