Scope and Content Kinghorn Old Kirk, Kinghorn, Fife Kinghorn Old Kirk was probably built in 1243 by Bishop David de Bernham. Most of it was demolished in 1774 when the present Parish Church was built next to it. Kinghorn, Old Kirk / Religion / / Church / DIGITAL IMAGES Kinghorn was a royal burgh by about 1170. It had a weekly market from 1285, but was not represented in parliament until 1470. Much of the burgh was rebuilt in the 19th century when the linen industry brought new prosperity.
