Scope and Content Font at Meigle Parish Church, Perth and Kinross Meigle Parish Church, built in 1869, occupies the site of its predecessor (c.1791) and probably that of the medieval church, of which all that remains visible is a mural monument (1661) and the font. The church is on record about 1178. This font was recovered from the debris of the old church and is now set on a new base in the south vestibule of the present church. Each of the eight sides features a carving connected with Christ's Passion. This one shows the spear and the sponge. Meigle is best known for the large collection of Pictish carved stones found within or nearby the church. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
