Scope and Content Fireplace of David Scott Room' (third-floor south room), gatehouse, Falkland Palace, Fife Falkland Palace was remodelled in 1537-41 for King James V (died 1542). The south range dates from his reign, as do the exteriors of the earlier buildings. The east and north ranges were probably both built for King James IV (1488-1513). This fireplace of the south room on the third-floor of the gatehouse which was originally part of the apartments belonging to the Keeper - the royal official responsible for running and maintaining the Palace.
