Scope and Content Window, Chapel, second floor of south range, Falkland Palace, Falkland, Fife Falkland Palace was remodelled in 1537-41 for King James V (died 1542). The south range dates from his reign, as do the exteriors of the earlier buildings. The east and north ranges were probably both built for King James IV (1488-1513). This is one of the windows of the Royal Chapel. Though it was restored and refurbished in the 1890s, much of the chapel's original interior has been preserved. Falkland Palace's late 19th-century alterations and restorations were carried out for John Crighton-Stuart, 3rd Marquis of Bute, who became Hereditary Keeper in 1887.
